CONSULTATION AND BOOKING
If you have never had a session with us before, you may be wondering how the process works. When you contact us, we will discuss the type of portrait session you are interested in, even setting up an in-person consultation to make sure we understand your desires before you book your session. We ask that you take time to familiarize yourself with our website and blog to get a good feel of our style. When you are ready to book your session, we will provide you with a paper or digital version of our Portrait Agreement. Your session fees are due on booking and are a nonrefundable deposit to hold your session time. If we do not receive payment, we cannot hold your session time.
A typical session lasts between one and two hours, and is photographed outside or at a location we decide on. The one to two hours includes both outfit and location changes. We use both natural and studio light, but always prefer natural light. Morning (8am-10:30am) and evening (4:00pm-7:30pm) are great times for sessions outside that have a bit more soft, even light. Midday (11am-3:30pm) is the perfect time for photos in your home or downtown to be out of the harsh sun. Overcast days are wonderful days for photographs. In the event of sickness (yours or ours) or inclement weather, your session may be rescheduled.
Please make sure any young children are fed and well rested. As you think about booking your session time, please consider having your session at a time that works with your child’s natural routine. After a meal and after nap time is always a wonderful choice.
When it comes time to choose what you will wear during your session, keep in mind you make the photos, not your clothes! Make sure to wear something that is comfortable and falls in line with what you would normally wear. Solid colors are always a good choice to best draw attention to your face and show you off. Seniors should feel free to bring a combination of casual and semi-formal clothing to chose from. As you prepare yourself for your session, consider leaving time before your session for hair, makeup and outfit choices. Clean hair, fresh makeup and an outfit you enjoy wearing make you feel the best for your session.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
The images from your session will be available between 2 and 3 days after you are photographed. A password-protected gallery of images will be made available for you online to view for two weeks. If you wish to view your images in person, we will be more than willing to set up a viewing and ordering session. We have design guides and suggestions to help you arrange any image displays for rooms in your home. There is a ten percent discount on all images ordered within a week of your session. We accept cash, check and credit cards, and a full payment is due upon placing your order.
We offer a wide array of products to help you get the most out of your images. All prints are developed on photographic paper and are available 1 to 3 weeks after ordering. As opposed to inkjet inks and paper our photographic prints are archival for well over a hundred years if displayed indoors and will not fade like inkjet or ‘one hour’ prints. We mat and frame prints on request, but ask that you add an extra week to your order to accommodate the matting and framing process. We also offer albums, gallery wraps and a DVD of your images for sale.
Thank you so much for your interest in a session with us. We hope to speak to you soon!
